A little about me:
I'm 30 years old and have been in the HVAC industry for over 12 years. I worked for two HVAC companies, where I focused mainly on service and install, and then started Gateway Heating and Cooling in July 2015. Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife, Samantha, our 3 kids; Titus (8), Emmalyne (6), and Caraline (2), and our English Mastiffs Odin and Freya. As a family, we love going to church, singing, riding side by sides, and deep sea fishing.
What I love about my job:
As a install or service technician, I love getting to interact with our clients.. spending time with them, talking, learning their stories.. I've met a lot of really interesting people. I love knowing that if I do my job correctly, I am helping them stay comfortable, safe, and helping them save money.
As a comfort adviser, I love helping clients design a system that will meet their needs for how they use their home. We can do so much more than put in a system that will keep the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer. System design, indoor air quality, home efficiency, better comfort in the home, energy savings... those are the things I love.
As a business owner, my favorite thing is being able to help people. Whether it be our employees, our clients, or the community, I love helping people out. One of my favorite things is to provide a great place of employment for our employees. One that lets them make a living to support themselves and their families. I love watching our employees grow... gaining new certifications and industry knowledge.. buying their new home or vehicle.. getting married.. having children. It's so amazing to watch people develop and grow as individuals.
For fun:
When I was about 22 or 23 I went to work on a walk in cooler in Powell County Middle School. I walked into the front office to sign in and was questioned for being “late.” The look on the ladies face as she realized that I was there as a contractor and that I was, in fact, NOT a student, was hilarious. “I thought you were just one of our big football players,” she said.
